Primary Expertise

Håkon primarily focuses on conflict management within Bryn Aarflot’s litigation and dispute resolution team. He has represented some of the world’s largest trademark owners before Norwegian courts, drawing on significant experience in handling complex disputes both domestically and on an international scale. His previous role as managing attorney at a major global corporation has provided him with valuable insight into the complexities of international IP matters.

In addition to representing clients in litigation, Håkon advises clients strategically and assists with the drafting and negotiation of all types of IP-related agreements. He has substantial experience supervising large international trademark portfolios and supports startups and SMBs as well. Renowned for his strong business acumen, pragmatic mindset, and solution-oriented approach, he offers efficient and value-focused guidance to clients. For several years, he was a co-author of the “Trademark Litigation Guide for Norway” published in World Trademark Review.

Background

Håkon graduated with a law degree from the University of Oslo in 2003, specializing in trademark, patent, and copyright law, and was admitted to the Norwegian bar in 2007. He first joined Bryn Aarflot in 2007, but then took on the position of managing attorney for the video conferencing division at Cisco Systems in 2009, where he also led the division’s IP team for a period. In that role, he later expanded his scope to include Cisco’s sales departments across Norway, Iceland, Finland, and the Baltics. He returned to Bryn Aarflot in 2016, becoming an integral part of the litigation and dispute resolution team. Prior to 2007, he worked at another IP consultancy firm and gained experience in the insurance sector.

Distinctions

Håkon has been recognized by the industry journal WTR 1000 as a “recommended individual” in “prosecution and strategy” from 2020 to 2025 and ranked in the “Silver” category for “Enforcement and litigation” in 2024–2025.

Managing Intellectual Property named him a “Rising IP Star” in 2018 and a “Notable IP Star” from 2022 to 2024.
