Ida Marie Daae

Primary expertise

Ida has several years of experience within IP law, unfair competition and marketing law, assisting businesses in protecting and commercializing the values inherent in trademarks, designs and other intellectual property rights. She takes a business-oriented and practical approach, and advises both Norwegian and international clients, from start-ups to established corporations, on securing competitive advantages, reducing risk and creating room for maneuver in the market.

Ida works across all areas of intellectual property law, with a particular focus on trademark and design law. She assists with development and implementation of IP strategies, clearances and risk assessments prior to launch and rebranding, registration and management of trademark and design portfolios in Norway and internationally, as well as advising on commercialization through licensing, assignments and other agreements where IP is central.

She also has substantial experience in enforcement and dispute resolution, including handling infringements, cease-and-desist letters and negotiations, oppositions and invalidity proceedings, as well as preliminary injunctions and litigation. Ida also assists with measures against counterfeiting and lookalikes, including customs matters, as well as domain name disputes and the handling of infringements in digital channels and on marketplaces.

Background

Ida graduated with a law degree from the University of Oslo in 2007 specializing in trademark, design and patent law. She also holds an LL.M in European Law, with a focus on IP, from King’s College London. She was admitted to the Norwegian Bar in 2015.

Ida has worked as an associate at the full-service business law firm Bull & Co, and as an attorney at law and partner at Protector IP.

Ida joined Bryn Aarflot as a partner in 2023.
