Cecilie has significant experience in IP Law and has dedicated her entire carrier to helping clients establishing and creating value from their intellectual property rights.
Cecilie has a passion for trademarks and copyright and holds in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the music industry. Known for her pragmatic, yet thorough and to the point approach, she provides legal services relating to Norwegian trademark law and practice, trademark searches, examination and oppositions, as well as advice on strategies for protection and enforcement of IP rights in general. She provides clients with creative solutions that not only resolve immediate issues, but also consider potential pitfalls down the road.
Cecilie has a keen understanding of the relationship between commerce and law, and is experienced with advising clients on the commercial aspects of intellectual property law – from agreement work such as licensing and assignments to due diligences.
She advises both start-ups and large Norwegian and international well-established companies, and her clients come from a wide range of industries, including entertainment, automotive, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, healthtech, sports, food, retail and financial industries.
Cecilie regularly holds lectures on various aspects of intellectual property rights.
In addition to her daily work at Bryn Aarflot, Cecilie is chairman of the board of FONIP – The Association of Norwegian Intellectual Property Attorneys.
Background
Cecilie graduated with a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1993 specializing in patent and trademark law. She started her IP carrier at the Norwegian Industrial Property Office followed by five years with Deloitte Law firm where she in addition to competition law and business law specialized further within the commercial aspects of intellectual property law, including copyright law. Cecilie and was admitted to bar in 2006, joined Bryn Aarflot AS in 2008 and made partner of Bryn Aarflot in 2013.
